Bolton Library and museum proudly presents the OUTing The Past Festival on 29th February 2020

Following our major LGBT+ exhibition - Desire, love identity in 2019, Bolton Central Library and Museum is delighted to be a Hub for OUTing the Past Festival in 2020.

This year’s festival will link to the 2020 theme of ‘Poetry, Plays and Prose’ with short films featuring LGBT+ characters and a NW England Premier of ‘Filthy Shakespeare’ - an immersive Shakespearian play with a hilarious modern twist, performed in Bolton Museum.

Speakers will include local people and presenters from around the country who will be exploring and celebrating diverse issues. We will also feature presentations about LGBT+ characters in computer games, and we will discover Northern LGBT+ heroes and characters from the past and the present.

During the festival we will be discovering the hidden history of LGBT+ people under the Nazi regime through to the 1990’s, creating an awareness of past struggles which influence lives today.

Bolton is proud to be a cultural hub for OUTing the Past. This year we are one of 22 OTP venues in the UK, Ireland and USA.

More information will be available on www.boltonlams.co.uk or connect with us on www.facebook.com/boltonlibraryandmuseumservices or follow us on Twitter @boltonlms to discover more about our OUTing the Past Festival in Bolton.
