OTP 2021 Hub - Leicester LGBT Centre
Leicester LGBT Centre is the go-to place for everything LGBT+ in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We exist to empower those who are LGBT+ and educate those who are not, challenge the inequalities created by society, and improve the lives of LGBT+ individuals and the wider community. With our large, accessible venue and our small team of passionate staff and volunteers, we aim to create a safe, welcoming environment where people can express themselves, connect with others, and get the inclusive services they need. People come to us for a range of social groups and activities, support, advocacy, information and guidance, counselling, and professional services including training and consultancy.
The Centre is excited to be taking part in Outing the Past for the second year running. Our first OTP event in March 2020 was a roaring success, with attendees commenting on how much they had learned and how interesting the talks were, and leaving feeling inspired to learn and share more. Of course, things swiftly changed, and OTP was actually the last in-person event we were able to hold at the Centre this year. The coronavirus pandemic has forced us to get creative and work differently, and taught us a lot about engaging and connecting with people in new ways, so we are excited and confident about holding a digital OTP event which can reach more people and spread awareness of LGBT+ history in a powerful way.
We hope to host a dynamic event with a diverse range of presentations, enlightening people about different LGBT+ experiences, events, and issues throughout the years, and encouraging people to be activists in the local community.
More information on the programme and how to book your place will be coming soon, but in the meantime, follow our social media for updates on our work and get in touch with any questions:
