OTP 2021 Hub - Ancient House
We are Ancient House Teenage History Club and we are delighted that Ancient House will be an OUTing the Past hub for the first time in 2021. Since 2017 we have been discovering queer stories and history in our museum collections. You can see some of our work on this You Tube playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH63e73axTA&list=PLwyJDukMtQb2J4VgD6zPOEhiYY_r3UVUG
Ancient House is a Tudor merchants’ house from about 1490 and the displays tell the story of Thetford and the surrounding Brecks countryside. The museum was founded by Prince Frederick Duleep Singh, son of the last Maharajah of Punjab who had queer experiences during his school days and in the army in the First World War. His sister, Princess Catherine Duleep Singh was a lesbian.
We are delighted to be hosting a range of wonderful speakers for this year’s LGHT+ History Month OUTing the Past Conference on 19 February and also running a series of virtual workshops to support families and schools to participant in the LGBT History Month Badge Design Competition.
