Stockport Libraries are delighted to welcome the OUTing the Past festival to Stockport Central Library, SK1 3RS to complete a month-long series of events.
Now in our 4th year Stockport Libraries and partners have provided a wide range of accessible and diverse LGBT+ themed online events during the whole of February to celebrate & support LGBT+ Month.
We are Proud to be working in partnership with: Forward, Stockport LGBT+ Plus, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, The Proud Trust, Stockport Pride, Nexus, Healthwatch & Nationwide reaching out throughout Stockport and beyond to encourage inclusion and diversity.

The Haringey Vanguard Project
Uncovering the histories of Black & Asian LGBTQ+ communities
A Live online presentation which gives an insight into the lives of Black and Asian LGBTQ+ people, their role in several key movements that shaped LGBTQ+ history and through personal stories show the importance of unity, and queer spaces.

I recently joined the Schools Out UK committee and as an NHS doctor have been working with NHS trusts and organisations to plan for LGBT+ History month and beyond.
LGBT+ Health & the NHS
The pre-recorded presentation will include an overview of the health issues that have been particularly important to the LGBT+ community throughout the history of the NHS. This would include the role of the NHS (both positive and negative) in LGBT+ Health over the past 70 years. This will follow on to draw parallels with the current COVID pandemic and the mental and physical health issues affecting the LGBT+ and BAME community.

An LGBT Life. How it was. How it is!
A Live online presentation. Trudy the current LGBT+ Poet Laureate explores through poetry, prose and personal recollection her experience of being Gay. She shares her experiences as a performing artist and a political activist during the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000’s up to the present time.
