OTP 2022 Hub - Ulster Museum
Saturday 19th March - In-Person with Virtual
Our vision at the Ulster Museum is to celebrate who we are; tell the stories of our past, challenge our present, and shape our future. Our museum is a space for everyone in Northern Ireland to enjoy and feel included in. LGBTQ+ stories have been under-represented in museums in the past, and it is vital that we take action to change this through designing museum experiences and programmes that are accessible to all and developing and interpreting our collections in a way that represents and reflects society today.
From events such as working with Outburst Queer Arts Festival in 2014 to invite David Hoyle to lead a Queer History Tour of the museum, programming events for Northern Ireland’s first OUTing the Past Festival in 2018, winning ‘Queer of the Year’ award in 2018 to hosting the launch of the NLHF funded LGBT History Project in 2020, the Ulster Museum is committed to ensuring that diverse voices are heard and represented in our national museum.
This year the OUTing the Past Festival is in partnership with multiple institutions across Ireland and the UK. The festival will run from 19th March to 10th April 2022 with Ulster Museum on the 19th March and Public Record Office of Northern Ireland on the 20th March.
Ulster Museum, in partnership with Cara-Friend, will be playing host to a fascinating mix of talks and events focused on discussion and engagement. The full programme will be announced soon – watch this space!
