OTP 2022 Hub - LSE Library
LSE Library was conceived as a laboratory for the social sciences in 1896. The Library would provide a place where people interested in the study and understanding of society could come together and find the materials for their work. The dynamic pursuit of this vision has built one of the most outstanding social science libraries in the world.
We hold extensive collections on British political and economic history, including archives of influential political parties, pressure groups, think tanks, politicians and campaigners. Particular strengths are peace and internationalism, women’s equality and LGBT equality.
LSE Library has been home to the Hall-Carpenter Archives since 1988. It’s an extensive collection of archives, ephemera and printed material documenting the development of gay activism in the UK since the 1950s.
We will be hosting an online event on Zoom for OTP 2022 on Wednesday 9 February. In addition, we have an event presented by Clifford Williams on his new book Courage to Be on the London Gay Teenage group on 25 November 2021.
We also have a downloadable teachers’ resource using our archive collection on LGBT+ rights for PSHE at Key Stage 3 and GCSE Religious Studies (dependant on exam board) on the TES website: Campaigning for Change – LGBT+ Activism 1970s and 80
